4 DAYS/3 NIGHTS TOUR

 

DAY 1 Pick up from the accommodation at 7:00 am. 

    Travel along State Highway 1 over the Bombay Hill and head down to Waitomo Caves in the heart of the King Country Region where you will see millions of little creatures glowing in the cave which are known as the glow worms. After leaving the cave, we will stop for lunch (own expense) at Otorohanga as we drive into the Waikato on our way to Hobbiton Movie Set located on a working farm just out of a township called Matamata. At Hobbiton you can see the working of how they made the movies and enjoy the Hobbit Trilogy. Next we travel to Rotorua.

DAY 2 Pick up from the accommodation at 9:00 am.

    This morning we will head out to Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland which is a spectacular showcase of New Zealand's most colourful and unique geothermal elements sculpted by thousands of years of volcanic activity plus you will see Lady Knox Geyser. Once we get back into Rotorua you will ride a gondola to the top of Mount Ngongotoha and take in panoramic views of the city as you enjoy lunch at the Skyline Rotoura Stratosfare Restaurant which is a buffet lunch. After lunch you will enjoy the Rotorua City Tour which includes the Redwoods Rotorua, Ohinetumu Village, Kuirau Park, different lakes, Government Gardens and swim at the Polynesian SPA, so you can enjoy the thermal water of Rotorua. DAY 3 Pick up from the accommodation at 7:30 am.

    Today is time to enjoy the snow at New Zealand's largest ski area at Whakapapa ski field on Mt. Ruapehu. We will drive around part of New Zealand largest lake, Lake Taupo which is a creator lake like Lake Rotorua. As we start driving up the base of Mt Ruapehu you will see a historical hotel called Chateau Tongariro Hotel built in 1929. After playing in the snow we will go back around lake Taupo and stop in the township of Taupo. There you can get some pictures of the snow capped mountains of Mt. Tongariro, Mt. Ngauruhoe and Mt. Ruapehu across the lake. Next stop is Huka Falls. Huka Falls is a thundering 11 metre high waterfall and the most visited and photographed natural attraction in New Zealand. Early evening you will be picked up from your accommodation by bus to be taken to Mitai Maori Concert and Hangi Food for a night of entertainment and dinner. You will learn more about the Maori Culture and get to join too. The Hangi (dinner), I know you will enjoy.

Stay in Rotorua.

 

DAY 4 Pick up from the accommodation at 6:30 am.

    Today you will enjoy a three hour drive over the Mamaku Ranges through part of the Waikato Region and into the Coromandel Peninsula. You will wind your way up along the Firth of Thames as we make our way to Driving Creek Railway. There you will take an hour train ride that includes 2 spirals, 3 short tunnels, 5 reversing points and several large viaducts as it climbs up the hill to the Eyefull Tower. At the top, you will be fascinated by the panoramic views over the island-studded Hauraki Gulf. After that, you will go to the white sandy Coromandel Beach where you can enjoy a walk or just relax. Next you will visit the Coastal Walkway Cathedral Cove and the natural thermal mineral pools of the Hot Water Beach. After you finish your amazing tour of the Coromandel Peninsula we will travel back to Auckland City.
