Your day begins in historic Arrowtown, an area swarmed by European gold prospectors in the 1860's, followed by 5000 Chinese who wanted to try their luck amongst what was left. Walk amongst the tiny restored cottages of this exquisite little town with its charm of historic buildings. Next stop is the township of Wanaka where the Maori used the area as a pathway to greenstone sites in the early days before the gold miners stayed there because it was close to their Cardrona claims. Today Wanaka lifestyle is rich in family adventures, eco-tours, recreational trails and nearby ski fields, surrounded by huge mountains, massive glaciers and Lake Wanaka. Within the lake you can get some pictures of the Reflection Tree. You will have some free time to wander around Wanaka before we head to the Crown Range, New Zealand's highest sealed road. get some pictures of the incredible views from the platforms. Next place to stop on your way back to Queenstown is the Cardrona Hotel. It was built in 1863 to service gold prospectors for accommodation and a place to stop and seek refreshments, plus it is one of the oldest pubs in New Zealand.
